A Century of Innovation

Williams & Associates

W&A Building - optimized

From its beginnings in 1921, Williams & Associates has been a trailblazer in transportation consulting and logistics management. Founded by the visionary F.V. Caesar as a traffic counseling service, the company laid its foundation with a focus on ICC legal work and carrier overcharge claims—a service now known as post-audit processing.

In 1957, the dynamic Gil Williams joined the firm, bringing fresh energy and ambition. By 1971, Gil transformed the business into Williams & Associates, Inc., establishing a legacy of innovation and growth. The company relocated to Bloomington in 1984, planting deep roots in the local community while expanding its industry footprint.

The 1980s marked a technological revolution for Williams & Associates. Always ahead of the curve, the company embraced cutting-edge advancements, introducing EDI connectivity to streamline communication between carriers and clients. Proprietary software for rating and data entry followed, setting the stage for today’s robust pre-audit processes and advanced reporting tools.

Williams & Associates has always been more than just a business. Its leaders have been passionate contributors to both industry and community. From involvement in prestigious organizations like the TLC, CSCMP, Transportation Club, and NITL, to championing local causes such as the Bloomington Community Foundation, VEAP, and the arts, the company has remained committed to making a difference.

Gil Williams cared deeply for his employees, fostering a workplace culture that valued loyalty and dedication. This commitment is reflected in the many employees who have remained with the company for decades.

Keeping work in the United States, rather than outsourcing labor overseas, was important to Gil, who ensured every project was handled by the team he knew and trusted. This philosophy continues under the leadership of Ryan Williams, grandson of Gil, who was named president in 2018, and CEO in 2023. As Ryan steers the company into the future, the importance of high-quality service delivered by a dedicated, local team remains a priority.

An equally important value has been maintaining a personal touch in customer service. Ryan continues to uphold Gil’s belief that when a client calls to solve a problem, they should be able to speak with an actual human being, even the CEO. This hands-on approach underscores the company’s commitment to building strong, lasting relationships with its clients.

Williams & Associates is a testament to over a century of excellence, blending innovation, industry leadership, and community spirit. As we look to the future, our commitment to driving progress and delivering value remains as steadfast as ever.
